Eye movement Desensitisation reprocessing is a style of therapy developed by Psychologist Francine Shapiro in 1988. This therapy is evidence based and considered an effective intervention for treating the long-term impact of trauma, so if you have been traumatised by past events then this may well be the therapy for you.
EMDR helps clients to reconnect in a calm, safe and measured way; to images, thoughts, emotions and bodily sensations associated with the trauma. The natural healing comes from the brain and the client is able to think more positively.
